We are looking for an experienced professional to serve as an SoC Architect who will play a key role in shaping the technical architecture of our complex mixed-signal SoCs and be responsible for the integration of analog, RF, digital, and firmware components. In this role, you will translate product, customer, and system requirements into a clear, implementable SoC architecture and oversee the development process from system definition through design and verification to tape-out, silicon bring-up, and product release.

If you enjoy structuring complex technical relationships across multiple development disciplines, making robust architectural decisions, and working at the intersection of systems engineering, RF/analog design, digital design, firmware, verification, and product development, then you’ve come to the right place.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the technical SoC architecture from the perspective of implementation, integration, and system interdependencies.
  • Deriving a technical system and SoC architecture based on product requirements, customer needs, application scenarios, and technical constraints.
  • Defining the functional division between analog, RF, digital, firmware, and—where relevant—external components.
  • Defining and documenting interfaces between analog, RF, digital, and firmware components, including data, control, timing, clock, reset, power, calibration, and register interfaces.
  • Evaluation of the architecture in terms of performance, power consumption, chip area, cost, robustness, testability, development effort, and time-to-market.
  • Coordinating the architecture with technical management, project management, and the responsible leads of the involved development departments.
  • Taking customer requirements, product goals, and application scenarios into account when making technical architecture decisions.
  • Preparing, facilitating, and documenting architectural decisions, design reviews, and technical decision documents.
  • Defining interfaces, responsibilities, and handoffs between Systems Engineering, RF/Analog Design, Digital Design, Synthesis & Physical Implementation, Firmware, and Validation.
  • Assisting in defining the hardware/software partitioning and in assigning functions and responsibilities among the SoC, firmware, and higher-level system components.
  • Assessing the impact of architectural decisions on implementation, verification, integration, silicon bring-up, and subsequent product maintenance.
  • Support in defining verification strategies and in mapping requirements to appropriate verification and validation measures.
  • Early identification, assessment, and tracking of technical integration risks.
  • Support in the preparation and execution of pre-silicon and post-silicon activities through tape-out and beyond.
  • Support for the integration of analog, RF, digital, and firmware components into the overall architecture.
  • Maintenance of architecture, interface, and decision documentation throughout the entire development lifecycle.
  • Serving as a liaison between technical teams, product managers, customer requirements, and project goals.
  • Contribute to the further development of architectural methods, review processes, documentation standards, and integration processes within a growing deep-tech company.

Your Profile:

  • A degree in electrical engineering, microelectronics, telecommunications engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • Extensive practical experience in the development and integration of complex SoCs, ASICs, mixed-signal systems, or comparable embedded systems; typically, you have at least ten years of relevant professional experience outside of your studies and internships.
  • Proven experience in translating product, customer, and system requirements into a clear, consistent, and implementable system and SoC architecture.
  • Practical experience in defining and coordinating interfaces between analog, RF, digital, and firmware components.
  • A solid understanding of development and integration processes, from system definition through design and verification to tape-out, silicon bring-up, or product release.
  • You can systematically evaluate technical trade-offs between performance, power consumption, die area, cost, robustness, testability, and development effort, and translate them into sound architectural decisions.
  • Experience in structuring and facilitating technical decision-making, architecture reviews, and cross-team coordination.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills when interacting with technical leads, project management, product managers, and—where relevant—customers.
  • You can convey complex technical concepts precisely, clearly, and in a way tailored to different audiences.
  • A structured, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to work, along with a high degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and decision-making ability.
  • Good written and spoken English skills for technical documentation and working in an international team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with
    • mixed-signal SoCs for wireless, communications, or IoT applications.
    • DECT NR+, DECT-2020, 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or comparable wireless communication systems.
    • ASIC or FPGA development, SoC integration, tape-out, and silicon bring-up.
    • Hardware/software interfaces, firmware requirements, and register and driver concepts.
    • Architecture and modeling tools, as well as formal or simulation-based system verification.
    • Safety-critical, reliability-critical, or highly energy-efficient embedded systems.
    • Collaborating with customers or product teams, as well as prioritizing and technically interpreting requirements.
    • Establishing or further developing architecture, review, and integration processes in a startup or scale-up environment.
    • Functional partitioning, system modeling, reference models, or early feasibility assessments for complex SoC architectures.
    • RF and analog subsystems, such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, LNAs, PAs, analog front-ends, digital front-ends, or power management blocks.
  • Knowledge of SystemC, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, Verilog/SystemVerilog, or comparable modeling and implementation environments.

We offer:
